A Life Long Networker

I learned the value of networking and building relationships at an early age. I grew up in a family where everyone seemed to know us, and we seemed to know everyone else.

Bow and Arrow or Shotgun?

I sell cars; shall I mail to all people in given zip codes or shall I identify those who have bought in the past 3 years and delete them from my mail file? What makes sense to you, the shotgun approach where you may be mailing to some who just recently purchased a car or a more targeted (bow and arrow) approach where you will not be spending "good money after bad"?

Marketing: It's all in the Plan

Some say, "I do marketing, I advertise in the weekend paper" or "I give away pens and pads." Is that marketing? Both can be elements of your marketing plan, IF they are planned and executed properly. I remember when I had my intro to marketing in grad school, it was the 4 Ps (Philip Kotler): product, place, price, and promotion. The 4 Ps cover an enormous amount of ground. The point I want to make is the importance of a marketing plan and how it can help you to deliver on your business goals.

Gay Pride Business Networking Group Is Growing

Following on the success of our Grand Opening event, our
second event on September 28th introduced us to seven new
people. When you think about the fact that each of us
probably knows 10 to 20 people then your potential rolodex
has just increased by 150 to 500 additional contacts or more
from just these two events! This is the power of networking.

Grand Opening Event In Asbury Park

Over 20 people turned out for the Grand Opening Event of Gay Pride in Business Networking held at Moonstruck in Asbury Park on September 14th.

The room was a buzz with people introducing themselves and their businesses to each other. All types of businesses where represented; artists, art galleries, book stores, counseling, event planners, publishers, entertainment, mortgages, financial planning and real estate just to name a few of the businesses represented in the NJ and PA areas. Numerous connections where made from old high school classmates to business connections of all types. During the course of the evening you heard people saying I know someone who can help you ..., have him/her send me thier information and I'll look at it ..., I'll make that connection for you... etc. Networking at its best!
